Health and safety monitoring
Construction Health and Safety (H&S) supervision is the process of monitoring and managing health and safety issues on a construction site. It aims to ensure that construction work is carried out in a way that is safe for workers and minimises the risk of accidents and occupational diseases.
The main tasks of construction health and safety supervision include:
- Occupational risk assessment: Carry out a hazard analysis and risk assessment of the construction work, identifying potential hazards and how to eliminate or reduce them.
- Monitoring of working conditions: Continuous monitoring of working conditions on site to ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations and identification of any irregularities.
- Controlling the use of personal protective equipment: Ensuring that workers use appropriate personal protective equipment such as helmets, pads, safety goggles, etc.
- Health and safety training: Organisation and delivery of health and safety training for employees to raise awareness and competence in this area.
- Responding to incidents: Acting when health and safety accidents or incidents occur, including investigations to determine causes and the introduction of preventive measures.
- Cooperation with labour inspection: Liaise with supervisory and labour inspection authorities to ensure that construction activities comply with applicable health and safety legislation and to carry out any inspections.
Construction health and safety supervision is a key element of the construction project process to protect the health and lives of workers and minimise the risk of accidents and occupational diseases.
